It seems as if Turkish top side Fenerbahce could be poised to bring Real Madrid and former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to Istanbul beating several Premiership clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham to his signature. The 33-year-old striker has struggled to get much of a look in this season at Real Madrid under new boss Manuel Pellegrini, who has invested heavily in the front line at the Bernabeau in the summer. The one time Premiership predator missed much of last season through injury and is desperate for first team football to get himself into contention for a chance at a final crack with the Dutch national team at the World Cup in just over 6 months time. Fenerbahces German coach Christoph Daum reckons that van Nistelrooy would be the ideal strike partner for Dani Guiza, the one-time Real Mallorca hitman, who has struggled for form since arriving in the Turkish Superleague. Its also thought that one-time Real colleague Roberto Carlos, with whom van Nistelrooy remains in contact, has encouraged him to consider a move to the Turkish administrative capital. van Nistelrooys contract is up in the summer anyway at Real Madrid, but the chance to make some money by selling him on over the winter transfer window would be too good to turn down for the Spanish side, who would certainly be open to offers. Arsenal have been most heavily linked with a move for the one-time United forward, and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger hasnt shirked from signing up former Old Trafford stars. Only this morning Arsenal legend Ian Wright admitted that the injury to Robin van Persie, which is worse than initially feared, could hamper a title challenge, and that van Nistelrooy could be the perfect acquisition to keep the title bid on the tracks. Liverpool have also looked lightweight up front when unable to call on the services of Fernando Torres, and may consider the purchase of van Nistelrooy as the perfect solution. Not only available at a relatively cheap price, but also an almost certain guarantee for goals, if his record at Manchester United is anything to go by, he could the solution to Liverpools lack of bite in attack.
