Scottish Premier League Kick-Off 2013-14

The new Scottish Premier League season kicks off today with reigning champions Celtic unsurprisingly listed as strong bookies favourites at one hundred to one on with many bookmakers. They get their campaign under way on Saturday evening at home against Ross County. Last season’s runners-up Motherwell start away at Hibs on Sunday lunchtime and 2012-13 third placed side Inverness start at home to St. Mirren. Newly promoted Partick Thistle host the season’s curtain raiser this evening at Firhill against Dundee United. The full details of the opening round of fixtures are as follows:

Friday 2nd August 2013
19:45 – Partick Thistle v Dundee United

Saturday 3rd August 2013
15:00 – Aberdeen v Kilmarnock
15:00 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle v St. Mirren
17:15 – Celtic v Ross County

Sunday 4th August 2013
13:15 – Hibernian v Motherwell
15:00 – St. Johnstone v Heart of Midlothian

If you fancy a bet on the outcome of the championship race, there’s not much value in backing Celtic at their tiny odds, but if you think they might slip up this season then you’ll be sure to get a decent price. Motherwell and Aberdeen are the current second favourites, both at 50/1 with Bet365 and Partick are the outsiders. The starting odds in full are:

1/100 Celtic
50/1 Motherwell
50/1 Aberdeen
125/1 Dundee United
200/1 Hibernian
200/1 Inverness
200/1 St. Johnstone
250/1 Ross County
300/1 Kilmarnock
500/1 Hearts
500/1 St. Mirren
750/1 Partick
