Injury hit AZ welcome Ajax to Alkmaar; AZ-Ajax Preview

AZ Alkmaar face Ajax in the first “Super-Sunday” encounter of the season with both sides looking to recover from tough away trips in Europe in the UEFA Cup last Thursday evening. The timing of this first “Super-Sunday” match day couldn’t have been worse for both sides as both teams have several injuries as well as the potential tiredness of return trips from Portugal and Croatia to still work out of their legs.

Bremen and Stuttgart look to bounce back; Werder Bremen-VfB Stuttgart Preview

On Saturday afternoon Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart meet in the 6th round of the Bundesliga season at the Weserstadion hoping to recover from the Champions League losses that both sides suffered midweek to Real Madrid and Rangers respectively. Both sides are struggling to find their form from last season with Bremen in particular suffering from loosing key striker Miroslav Klose to Bayern as well as a series of highly unfortunate injuries.

Magnificent Messi tames Lyon; Barcelona 3-0 Olympique Lyon

Thanks to an outstanding performance from Lionel Messi Barcelona got off to a flying start in Group G thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win against French Champions Lyon. Barcelona had to wait until the final ten minutes to round off the game having gone a goal up half way through the first half. Messi in particular was hugely influential in helping his side bamboozle and outwit Lyon, who by the end of the match looked thoroughly dejected and miserable.

Woeful Inter crash in Istanbul; Fenerbahce 1-0 Inter Milan

Group G kicked off yesterday evening with Inter failing to register barely even a shot on target let alone a point in the group after failing to produce any sort of performance against an increasingly confident Fenerbahce, who were inspired by their left footed midfielder Alex.

Aberdeen play Dnipro on Thursday night in an attempt to qualify for the UEFA Cup Group Stages, but couldn’t have drawn a much tougher team in the shape of Dnipro. Leverkusen hold out for point at Schalke; Schalke 1-1 Leverkusen
