Romania are undoubtedly one of the emerging nations in the sport although they have yet to make their presence truly felt. Romania’s Player to Watch – Ciprian Marica

Despite a disappointing season with VFB Stuttgart, Romania’s forward Ciprian Marica could be one of the key players to watch for Romania at Euro 2008. His 8 goals in qualifying were a massive factor as the Romanians held off the Netherlands for top spot in their qualifying group, and the 22 year old could forge an excellent partnership with Adrian Mutu up front.

Romania – Banking on the twin pillars

Arguably the least well known squad at the tournament, the Romanians, despite their allocation to Group C, the Group of Death, will be keen to prove they aren’t just along for the ride at Euro 2008. With 12 of the squad drawn from within the domestic league, they may well have the element of surprise on their side. Nevertheless France, Italy and The Netherlands would be unwise to write the Romanians off entirely; they topped their group at qualifying beating the Dutch to first place.
