World Cup 1966 Guide

World Cup - England 1966

Group I ¦ Group II ¦ Group III ¦ Group IV ¦ Top Scorers

The eighth World Cup was held in England - the birthplace of the modern game and again retained the four groups of four format. There were ten teams from Europe, four from South America, plus Mexico and the plucky North Koreans. England's third goal in the final is one of the most disputed of all time. Did Geoff Hurst's shot cross the line? The Azeri linesman Tofik Bakhramov seemed to think so.
